Baby Pictures!

We had our 2nd ultrasound today, & it went great. We found out that the baby weighs 1 pound & 1 ounce, has a heart rate of 150, & is bald! It was really neat. It's amazing to actually see your child fully developed this early on at 21 & 1/2 weeks. Anyway, check out the picture below. What do you think, boy or a girl? And who does the baby look more like, Corey or Alisha?

This picture Dr. Conrad took when the baby put it's hands together. As soon as it happened Alisha said, "Look, it's praying." Immediatley Dr. Conrad took the picture & put the caption on it for us. Another neat memory along the way.

Pray Today!

We just wanted to let everyone know that today @ 2pm we go for our 2nd ultrasound! We ask for your prayers that everything will go well & be well as expected. Hopefully we'll get a good picture of this baby to share with you today. Then we'll let the guessing begin as to if you think it's a boy or a girl! Thanks for all your love & prayers.

Event-full times!

Last week Alisha & I headed out for one last vacation before the baby comes. At least one last major vacation. I had a youth conference in Lake Forest (Orange County), California. So we decided to go early & fly into San Francisco. We had never been there before & thought it would great.

And it was, though San Francisco is very cold & rainy. We saw the redwoods,

the Golden Gate Bridge,

Fisherman's Warf

& a whole lot more. Then we drove down to the OC area to spend the rest of our time going to the conference at Saddleback church & enjoying the southern California sun! We absolutely love southern Cal! If we can ever find a reason to move there, we just might do it! It's one of our favorite places to go on planet earth. Pretty much all our vacations are either to southern Cal or Gulf Shores. What can I say we're beach bums (see photo of us at laguna beach).

We really had an awesome week together. It was spiritually refreshing & so good just to be away with one another.

When we got home, we resumed work on the nursery. Below you can see some photos. Just remember, we're not done & these represent a work in progress. Things are coming together well. We're excited to see how it's turning out. There's still a lot to do, but it will come together in time. The fun part is getting to do it together.

The Dish & the Spoon.

The Cow Jumped over the Moon.

Humpty Dumpty

We'll try to keep you up to date on all that's happening. Check back at the end of the week for another update. Alisha & I go back to the doc on Thursday for an ultrasound. This is the one where you would normally find out the sex of your child. And good news! We've decided to find out what we're having!!! NOT! Sorry, we still want to be surprised in August! Thanks for all your prayers for us during this journey.

For the first time

Last night was really special because for the first time I (Corey) got to feel the baby move! Alisha was over on the couch & said she had felt the baby move with her hand on her tummy. At first I didn't believe her. But then I came over beside her & after a few seconds I could feel it too. It was amazing. I know later on Alisha will wish she didn't feel the baby as much when it starts kicking in her rib cage, but for now...it's really cool. It's amazing the miracle that God has placed inside her & given to us to behold.

In other news, painting in the nursery continues. We've got the wall murals drawn & now it's up to our artistic skills to make them come alive with color.

We'll put more pictures up as we get it painted. Should look great in the end.

baby tunes

More & more Alisha is able to feel the baby move, & yes...that's exciting stuff. And supposedly the baby can hear now. At least that's what the baby books say.

So last night we decided to give the baby something to listen to & move to. After thinking about what we wanted to be the first song our baby would hear, I setup the ipod, put the headphones on Alisha's belly, & played Chris Tomlin's "How Great is Our God." Immediately Alisha felt the baby move with the music! So we let the music continue with the rest of the album "Arriving." These are exciting times.

If you've got any song suggestions for us to play for the baby, let us know. We'll take request!

Nursery Decor Begins

Well, we've started on the nursery decorating. As always, we've got big ideas. We'll see how they work out. Alisha wants this to have a Nursery Rhyme theme. So you'll see the Cow that jumped over the moon, Humpty Dumpty, & the Dish & the Spoon to name a few. We hope to have pictures up in a few days of the progress. We've already painted a light green on the walls called "Hancock Green." It's a Benjamin Moore Historical color. We love those colors. Anyway, I'm working on painting the furniture for the room now. We've still got to paint the ceiling, paint & put up the crown molding, finish the wall murals, and do a few other little touches to make this room special. Should be fun. Check back in a few days to see pictures of our progress.

And we may also let you in on a little secret in our next post, stay tuned for that.

18 Weeks!

Before we went to the doctor today we stopped by my (Alisha) favorite restaurant Cheeburger Cheeburger for a big lunch! I just can't get enough of their milk shakes.
Our appointment was at 1:00. The nurse said the baby was moving a lot. The heartbeat was 150 bpm and my belly measured at 19. I go back in 3 weeks for an ultrasound and then the week after that I will go for a regular visit. I know many of you cannot wait to find out what it is... well, sorry to disappoint you. :) We are not going to find out until August. We hope that you will treasure this surprise with us.

Cravings!

I don't know that Alisha has had a lot of cravings, but if she has...ice cream has got to be at the top of the list!

A picture is worth a thousand words!
